Every1s A Critic

Thanks griff that is so generous/good of you to let us all know

This sounds a fantastic opportunity. I've just registered my interest as I have enough sketches to get a show together.

Own performers? Oh well, it was a nice idea whilst it lasted. There is no way I can get any performers together!

Course you can winterlight, I'm already 'booked' to act in one of Nick River's sketches next week. Ask on here if anyone is prepared to do it. I would volunteer but I'm up north and it just happens I'll be in London when Nick needed an actor

Winterlight, why not approach a local am-dram group and ask for their help? There's an excellent youth one that runs from Lynn arts centre.

Most writers and actors I've met seem to be prepared to work for nothing in the "early stages" of their careers..

For many those "early stages" can pan out to be the whole of their careers!!

Hey thanks for all the advice. I think I was being a bit too defeatist earlier. I'll look into approaching some people rather than just whining!

As Bushbaby says, ask on here. I'd be willing to help out too... something I enjoy doing! :)

I've posted my script off.

To agree with Griff, I also submitted 2 scripts and found the whole process of working with a cast and director incredibly rewarding. My work definitely improved as a result.

The one thing I know which annoyed the organisers intensely last year was that although they emphasised the show must be stageable, they received a huge number of the scripts written for tv, down to 'cut to' and 'fade out' directions.

There were even scripts which called for helicopters and trained animals, so you might want to steer clear of that...

but if you fade in, fade out from say a lounge to a bedroom, surely they can cope with that?

What I would do is at stage left have a 'lounge' just needs to be a settee, at stage right a makeshift bed, can be four chairs with a blanket, then light up stage left or stage right accordin' easy peasy.
Sondheim's 'Merrily We Roll Along' covered about 50 years storyline and hardly had any scenery props at all!!!

I agree but actually you don't need props at all, imagination is everything. LOL

Try this - actors looking for work.
