A Song for Madeleine Page 2

Bunnies are nice, we should all give more to charity, and help pensioners to cross the road. Lets make the world a happier place, for all, all the time.

the same way masturbation is sex, for those who have none....

You seem to know a lot about that subject, sooty. Laughing out loud

It does scan well and of course it starts with Mr McCann. Spooky eh?

Careful, David.

Any response that falls short of 'scathing' will get you labelled as 'me talking to myself' Laughing out loud

A wise move. Your future on the site is now assured.

It's an old trick among the experienced website bully-boys: isolate your enemy by making the rational majority frightened to speak in support of him/her for fear of being similarly isolated.

It works. :(

Cats are adorable, and so are kittens, if we all held hands there'd be no war cos you can't make a fist when you hold hands.

You can't hug a child with nuclear arms.

This must be what it's like to work for the Ministery of Truth.

It's not a great start for a topical satirical song that you felt obliged to youtube a link to the original, because you know that very few people will recognise it.

That apart, I think the McCann story is so old-hat that whatever you do with your lyrics doesn't really matter. It's a tired topic.

Having said all that it scans nicely and savages your targets quite effectively. As to whether those targets are acceptable or not, I would say at this moment in time, no, but I understand people have different tastes. I also don't find it that funny to be mocking Gazza tonight either.

FoxyBox no-one is attacking you i don't think but if they are then ignore them. Dealing with this sort of subject you are always going to get reactions.

Personally I didn't like the song, needs to be funnier and i'm a stickler for rhyming. I think its essential in a comedy song. The sketch was a good idea but it has been done, the recent episode of skins and the Day Today (or Brasseye can't remember which one) moors Murderer musical.

You have a point to make about the parents so its entirely justified however with such a sensitive subject you have to invest more quality into it or else people may believe you are just courting controversy

Nothing personal, M Lewis, but it IS a comedy forum. ;)

Nothing personal, but try posting something funny.

But I'm old enough to know well and have bought the original on a 45 when it came out.

There may be some truth in what you say but I've never heard the original song in James's Gazza spoof, even though it seems to be well-known by many members.

I thought it would be a courtesy to the reader to link to the song, especially as many many songs are well-enough known but not always recognised by their titles.

I was refraining from posting my critique. Then thought better of it.

It did succed in being controversial & as much as I didn’t want to laugh, I did. In a kind of sucking in air cringey way.

We can not have it all though people. We can not say it is ok to talk about one controversial subject & not another. It is all or nothing IMO.

I think if this song was made slightly less cringy it would be far better accepted.

And if it rhymed Whistling nnocently
