British Comedy Guide

What IS a comedian?

Is it someone who writes jokes, etc or someone who delivers them? (Obviously exclude those who do both)

I believe it's someone who delivers them but it can be twisted to include writers in some situations.

And I will move this to writers discussion.

A person who as long as they keep people smiling, knows the clowns won't get them, so keep smiling.

Too be honest a comedian is some one who can make strangers laugh. A comedic actor may be able to give an amazingly nuanced performance, and a note perfect impersonation, but not be able to write for toffee. A writer may stand on stage and kill every one of his punchlines. Maybe why standup is one of the hardest forms.

Someone who has an ability to make others laugh!

The guy who nearly pushed me on the track at Clapham Junction this morning.

Difficult but I would say the one who delivers the stuff onstage. It's the timing and the skill of making people laugh, it's not easy as most people know but the comedien needs the writing too
