The sleeve didn't sell, but it is back on today, so good luck to him. It is so obscure a thing, I'm considering buying it.

On Saturday 19th June, a statue of Captain Mainwaring is being unvailed in Thetford, the town where all of Dad's Army's location filming took place.

Sounds like a jolly nice day out.

Hugely enjoyed the repeat of series one; much the best in my opinion.

The "non-broadcast" pilot of It Sticks Out Half A Mile was on BBC7 earlier today. It's repeated later.

Great performances by Lowe and Le Mesurier as their Dad's Army characters.

What was it? It's gone. Something with a swastika?

It was just the sleeve from a VHS.

Oh, I have an old Best Of Dad's Army (Vol 1) VHS. It's also in a few charity shops as well, along with Some Mothers, Yes Minister, Are You Being Served, Man About the House, The Young Ones, etc. I can't imagine any of it being collectible or worth more than the $1 it sells for. I mean, VHS tapes are hardly likely to become desirable like old records.

It did indeed!.. and didn't really work very well. There was an interesting prog on the Real UK invasion plans and counter plans. It's sort of sobering to see that the plan relied on "Dad's Army" holding every cross roads and bridge to the last man until the "real" army got sorted out to attack. I think a key part of this programme is the innate bravery of Mainwaring and his men.

Who's the fellow doing the John Le Mesurier impression in this EastEnders/Dad's Army spoof?

Isn't it also Alistair McGowan, via the magic of television trickery?

Nice work by the BBC tech guys. Pity it's such a shit sketch.
