A good start is to write what you'd like to see. Nobody else might want to see it (and realistically nobody will) but at least it gets you started.

Take a bottle of scotch in one hand and your dick in the other, start wanking and drinking as fast as you can. This usually empties the train compartment and provides a great deal of potential material that you would otherwise miss.

Good thoughts - I agree.

Personally I sometimes lean to coming up with a way so characters don't really have to have jobs. So they can sit about.
