The war begins!

To everyone who's been foolish enough to pay for tracks through something like iTunes, Play have today launched their own music download service, PlayDigital. Individual tracks start at 65p each (as opposed to iTunes's 79p, I think), with albums from £4.99. And just to sweeten the deal, all of the music is plain, good old mp3. Which means that there's none of that DRM stuff to stop you copying it, no software to install, and the tracks can be played on any mp3-supporting device - not just an iPod, for example!

The library may not be quite as big as iTunes just yet, but it's still pretty damn huge, and constantly growing.

Let the battles commence. :)

Yeah, hence the "To everyone who's been foolish enough to pay for tracks". Some people like to have legal music though.

Me, well to be honest FREE is too much to pay for most modern music, IMO.
