My first attempt at a sketch (oh dear)

Erm... I've never really done sketches before. I'm not really a sketch person... To be absolutely honest I just wanted to post something in the critique section... :$

But I did a sketch. It's a bit not very good and probably been done before, but I don't know... And it's probably formatted all wrong...

EXT. PARK - DAY

A FAT LADY IS SITTING ON A PARK BENCH. A MOTHER PUSHING A PRAM WALKS UP TO HER AND GIVES HER A KNOWING SMILE.

MOTHER
When’s it due?

LADY
(angrily)
When’s what due?

MOTHER
Ah, sorry... I must be going mad... For a minute I actually thought-

LADY
(still angry)
People these days! Always assuming things without getting the facts straight first! I’m sick to death of it!

THE MOTHER STARTS BACKING AWAY, LOOKING A MIXTURE OF EMBARRASSED AND FRIGHTENED.

LADY
Ah, sorry. I didn’t mean to bite your head off! I’m just stressed...
(gestures towards pram)
You know what it’s like to be pregnant...

Good for a first attempt…keep at it.

On the down side it rings a bell; didn't Catherine Tate do a sketch about someone thinking she was pregnant when she wasn't (I might be wrong...think it was shot in a documentary style..and overlong, like a lot of CT sketches) can anyone else help?

Ooops misread the sketch, above comment not required.

I don't know... I haven't really seen many/any sketches :$ so If I did something that had been done before I'd be completely oblivious :(

EDIT: oh!

Not bad Mana for a first go at writing a sketch.

I too fell I've heard/ watched a sketch like it before, but it's still good sketch with solid diaglogue and a good punchline.

I liked this Mana. You've put a twist on it which was unexpected. Would work better in a sitcom as it needs some extra dynamism to work as a sketch. i just realised that i've used the word dynamism so theres a very good chance my last sentence was complete bollocks Laughing out loud

A neat subversion of the cliche.
I'd lose the line with:
'Always assuming things without getting the facts straight first!'
