Would you like to act? Page 2

I would never sell out and appear in my own sitcom. i'd sell out and appear in a much better one with more pay and better writing.

There are three jobs I could never do. Pilot Teary , chiropodist Sick, and actor.

I like to think of myself as an actor. I love it. When I move to London I'm thinking of putting myself about a bit. Possibly save up for an MA in dramatics or summat just so's I can get some contacts. I was president of my uni theatre society and played Richard III at Leicester Cathedral. That was pretty amazing, but a f**kload of lines to learn!! I've also played Higgins in My Fair Lady, that was a great role. My original plan was to join the Footlights - I got accepted at Cambridge and then moronically missed a grade on my 'A' Levels. I'd love to do it professionally. :)

Wow, that's a man with a plan.

Harking back to the other thread, being too young when we have to choose our A Level subjects, etc.
If I could go back now, I'd choose the right A Levels (and er, work f**kloads harder), get into Oxford or Cambridge. Then get into comedy through the footlights or Oxford Revue, and go to Edinburgh and become faaaamouuus.

I want another go at life. May I?

Well, it really is rather frustrating for me also and generally I don't like to talk about it. Teary I had a plan but unfortunately I was cajoled into doing maths and physics as two of my (five!) 'A' levels and found them toe-curlingly dull. I mean, I'm an arts student and it was mental to "keep my options open" on the off-chance I decided to be a bloody engineer or something instead. Absurd! Laughing out loud I got 8 A*s at GCSE and thought I'd be able to do anything. I was wrong! I even got a letter from the people who had interviewed me at Cambridge telling me how sorry they were they couldn't slip me in, but they were oversubscribed. Teary Teary.

Still, it's not too late for anyone. It's all life experience. I'm hoping to really make some progression when I finally get to London. If I just get a job at the Beeb as a runner, I'd see that as the first step on the road to success! :)

Bloody hell that is frustrating.

Agree, it's not too late though. Woo!
(that was a whoop ala Never Better.)

You know what ah always say: get busy livin', or get busy dyin'.

It's not too late, I got my Equity card when I was 52 years old!!!

If there's one thing I really hate, it's near misses. There were a few incidents in my life, when I was younger, which set off a sort of domino effect, which I still think about today. One of the reasons I started writing my sitcom was to try and make up for these past near misses.

I'd love to

Actually the group I'm working with are looking for some actors for our New Writing Night on 31 May.

We're starting rehearsals and need the following -

Boy - spoiled brat who looks 16 (No - it's not for my own interest)
2 blokes about 26-30
An old bloke - about 60 - who's a paedophile
Woman - about 25 - tall.

No - honestly we are looking for these.

Anyone interested? We're in Carshalton, Surrey - between Croydon and Sutton.

I can do them all. Some at the same time. I'm very versatile.

I'm too young for the paedo, otherwise I'm your man.

Laughing out loud
