There is actually a lot of truth behind that. Porn, love it or loath it, is the driving force behind many net technologies. Password protection, credit card processing etc was developed first by the porn sites. It's an excuse I'm going to use one day: "what ladies on my screen? oh them, oh didn't notice them, I was just researching new technology"
