They pay for all of them but Ed skits pay about 3 times as much because of the higher audiences
NewsRevue again! Page 103
I've had several sketches over the years but never received any payments. Maybe I'll get something for "Pick uppa da trash".
The smallest cheque they write I think is 15 squids, so its probably just maturing
They did recently ask for my address.
Quote: AndyGilder @ 5th November 2013, 1:46 PM GMTDon't suppose you can remember how well (or otherwise) the Coulson/Brooks voiceover went down can you?
Ooh, off the top of my head I can't remember that one. How did it go?

I had a £9.98 last week

Along the lines of "At least we've now got the answer to who in their right mind would shag Rebekah Brooks..."
Rubbish I know, but it was short notice, it was late and I was tired

Sorry, yes, I remember now. It made me laugh and it got a good reaction. Well done!
Hey Shandy hows the lap dancing going?

Sadly they've retired my effort.

I'm never tried submitting to News Revue before so could anyone please answer a few queries?
Are there any written examples of News Revue style sketches or one of those helpful summaries of useful resources that someone was kind enough to do for NewJack?
On that subject, how close is it in tone to NewsJack, am I right in assuming there's more room for vulgarity?
When is the deadline for submissions? Is there more than one a la NewsJack?
What do they mean by voice overs, what are you voicing over exactly?
Are you only supposed to submit on specefic topics as I think I read somewhere else? How do you get on the mailing list for finding this out?
Anyway, sorry for the long, nagging post. Any help will be much appreciated in that I'll reply and say 'Thanks.'
Thanks.
1
I'll post some links up to sketches I wrote back in the day.
But remember the whole crew changes every 6 weeks so there's no true style.
2
Yes there is literally no comparison. News Revue meetings have included the director scolding the writers for a lack of Maddy jokes.
There is no taste barrier (unlike Treason).
3
It's continuos but your best is at the start of the 6 week cycle, basically as soon as the director asks for submissions. Think songs, runners, long stuff at the beginning. One liners, short sketches and stuff with VOs for during the run.
4
Whilst the cast are getting into costumes, someone will do a voice over on the PA system.
5
Just email them and ask to get on the mailing list. Or check the thread on BCG someone usually posts stuff up. They will ask for stuff, but don't get hooked on it as that stuff gets multiple submissions. Think is it funny? Is it tangentally connected to the news?
