I can't believe it!!! I got a song on there! I only just got the email because it got stuck in my spam mail. Soooooo happy!
Well done!
And while I'm here - thanks to the people who responded to my request for help in getting the tone of the show. I'd actually sent off some material before I saw the generously offered past submissions and had a V/O on the show, so maybe my 1-liners were in the right area but you've really helped with sketches.
Which brings me to my current set of questions... I've sent a few songs off, but aren't sure about the specific rules/preferences for songs. So would anyone be kind enough to advise me:
Do they seem to prefer intros/setups to songs or just a song in isolation?
Does anyone put reasonably detailed stage directions in songs? If so - how do you do it without ruining the flow of the song?
Must parody songs match the length of the original? E.G. If a song is actually Verse Verse Chorus Verse Chorus middle 8 chorus Verse Chorus would you have to match they, or if the point/joke is made with Verse Verse Chorus Verse Chorus would they be fine with that?
Must parody songs avoid repetition or are repeated (or partially repeated) choruses fine?
I've read various tips I've seen about parody songs, but most seem to refer to Treason, which, even if similar, is a different show...
I asked in the email for one submission, but expect I've more chance of an answer here.
