Yeah - and how vile some of the characters are! Georgia's a pretty horrible specimen, even given that she's 13, and Maggie's not an awful lot better.

I agree about them both, but if you watch Series 2 Ep 1 that takes it to a whole new level with the aid of some trifle 
They are both a bit 'nicer' from time to time though, really!

Episode 2 was an improvement, but still a little full-on with the obnoxiousness of some of them. Like the builder though, I understand he becomes a regular...
Yeah he stays until the end of series 2.
Once the kids have settled in it does get a bit more, say, relaxed and easy going, series 2 & 3 were definitely better.

Just watched that one, since I vaguely remembered watching it. It was ace.

Classic, how that doesn't end up in clip shows of the greatest comedy moments is beyond me.
One of the most middle of the road, non-entity sitcoms of all time. A terrible situation and, as stated earlier, so middle-class it makes your teeth itch.
The opening credits were always very difficult to watch without cringing. There's a reason it hasn't been released over here.
It was getting 8 million viewers so must have had some appeal, it did improve in series 2&3

The first series is out in Australia in Region 4 PAL. It plays on Region 2 in the UK though. I have played it on 4 different DVD players and it works fine.
It can be bought through ABC Shop.
They've still not released Series 2&3 though.
