The Kenya Problem

Let me know what you think.

PRIMEMINISTER, GORDON BROWN AND GEORGE BUSH ARE TALKING ABOUT THE KENYA PROBLEM. THEY ARE IN THE OFFICE OF NO.10

Brown
The situation in Kenya is critical, if its not resolved it could mean the loss of hundreds of lives and just unnecessary damage all across Kenya.

Bush
I hear you Brown, urgent help is needed.

Brown
I know its not going to be easy but we have to stick with it and when the problem is solved we have to carefully rebuild Kenya and make it stable again.

Bush
Definitely Sir, that goes without saying.

Brown
Its just not fair that in this day of age this type of thing is happening, its outrages.

(BROWN LOOKS AT BUSH, BUSH IS LOOKING INTO SPACE)

Brown
Are you listening? Do you even know what I’m talking about?

Bush
Yes, the problem in Kenya. (SMILES)

Brown
Do you even know why there is violence in Kenya?

Bush
Well, yes I do sir. (SMILES)

Brown
What then? (BROWN GETTING IMPATIENT) What is the cause of mass destruction all over what used to be one of Africa’s most secure countries? Go on tell me?

Bush
Well, the Kenyan’s have just found out that a famous worldwide singer is starting their world tour in Kenya.

Brown
What, you rambling idiot, which singer is to blame for a whole country in turmoil?

Bush
Britney Spears.

(BROWN STANDS UP AND WALKS STRAIGHT PAST BUSH AND OUT OF THE OFFICE, CLEARLY LOOKING LIKE HE IS HAVING A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN)

I didnt really find this as funny as your previous sketches Paul but keep writing.

Well, Paul, that's what I used to think. But, then I managed to sell one.

You've just got to keep on trying. You'd be lucky if you wrote a killer topical sketch at your first attempt.

Thanks for the advice Winterlight, I will keep trying. Just a quick question as well, ive been writing now for a couple of months now, do you think my sketches are any good?

The trouble is there's always going to be someone who likes it and someone who doesn't.

You've just got to hope you can amuse the people who have influence.

Hi Paul. You set yourself a very high standard with your first few sketches, they were very good. You've been given some great advice from Winterlight. Stick with them, but don't force them. You're only 17 and learning so fast. Take the advice and keep writing.

Hey Paul, your dialogue's good! 17 year old though? What are you doing writing sketches? You should be out snorting E tablets and injecting cannabis reefers. See? I'm "down" with the kids, Daddio.

Seriously though, when I was 17 all I was writing was filthy Limericks so well done on even putting the effort in.

Punchline needs working on though, I didn't really get the joke.
