Well he did fake his own death which must have caused her some annoyance.

If you combine that with his impotency problems, insulting her sick mother, inviting his secretary back to the house etc. then she certainly suffered before she adapted to their new lifestyle.

What about Fletch's wife? Can't be great for a prisoners wife.

Not exactly spouse, and don't think it's really been mentioned, but both Granville and Nurse Gladys Emmanuelle suffered (mostly the former) from Arkwright!
