Bollocks. It might mean nothing if you don't know the song, true. But one single - bastardised - line is a bloody obscure signifier even if you do know it. I'm sure many of us, myself included, wouldn't have 'got' it if the titles hadn't been included. Not everyone sits around jizzing over their collection of albums and lyrics. Rolling eyes

Actually I think they're all old people's songs anyway. Older than me that is.

Returning to the sketch, I thought it had more in common with the humour of Ronnie Kray than Ronnie Barker.

Ronnie always left them smiling. Sometimes with a cutlass, it seems.
