My first attempt at Stand-up. Page 3

I wouldn't try it at the king gong night charles. It's not a night for comics it's a night for the audience to be c**ts.

Find a nice comfy open mike night and try it there. If you're in Manchester I can recommend you some. Drop me a PM if interested.

rawhide in liverpool are having some gong shows from feb, I ve just booked myself in. eek.

They're different. You get a guaranteed amount of time there before the audience are allowed to use the card. And the Cotton Club is a nice venue.
The King Gong at the store OTOH is just a bear pit. It's not a night to try out material it's a night for nutters. IMHO

That doesn't mean it's not fun.

Midlands have some good gong nights too, I've seen a fair few as well as performing in a couple, the comperes are always a laugh and it's a nice atmosphere (most of the time).

Nik Coppin = Legend.

Am I right Stu?

Charles - do you go and see much live stand-up?

If not I'd recommend seeing as much as possible before doing it yourself. You'll see what you like (and don't) in other people's acts and find out what subjects are used too often (homosexulaity, etc).
