Dwarfers unite... time for a mark two?

Ok, so we can't expect Craig, Chris, Bob etc back to do more of the same (more's the pity) but this was SUCH a good series, wasn't it, that you'd think we might be treated to SOME attempt at a sequel..?

As much as I utterly loved RD, series 7 and 8 were enough to make me disagree with this strongly. I think it's just too late now, and I'm convinced another series (or 'the film' Naylor will still be trying to make when he's 90) would only desecrate some very fond memories.

I agree with Ian. Just let it rest. We have 6 good series to entertain ourselves with. And I actually really like the first episode of series 7.

Im going to come out and say it-7 and 8 werent all that bad. Not as good as the classic first six series, but their were still good episodes and bits of episodes. I only recently got round to buying the series 8 DVD and Im surprised by how much Ive enjoyed the first five episodes, especially as I do remember thinking it was poo when it first aired. Oh, and series 7 had that Rimmer song, which is just funny.

And no, i dont think they should try and do any more-be it a new series, spin-off or film; its time has passed and I think we should just be happy with all the great episodes and books we have.

Maybe Craig Charles and Chris Barrie could be reunited in an entirely different new sitcom.

That could be good.

What would it be called (or about)? The Three Cs? They'd have to get a third guy (or girl) in to play the other C. Craig, Charles, and Chris. That could work.

I used to love RD, but series 6, 7 and 8 killed it for me. I even wrote a couple of scripts which I thought at the time were better than what was in series 7 and 8. Reading them again recently after over 10 years I still think that, which shows how bad it got towards the end. Chloe Annett was hot though but still not a patch on Clare Grogan. That bit in Gregorys Girl when she's wearing the beret does it for me.

I think a spin off with Ace Rimmer and a sidekick (perhaps a Lister) would be fun. Bit like a Red Dwarf meets Doctor Who

One of my other little plans was that I noticed there was never a Red Dwarf video game. Has anyone seen http://www.telltalegames.com/samandmax
Well I was planning to pitch an idea to grant naylor along similar lines.

Doug Naylor has recently said that they have had offers to do a Dwarf animated movie. Either that or a stage show seem definite possibilities. The live action movie seems dead in the water.

Robert Llewellyn has written something which would star him, Craig, Chris and Danny. They can't get funding for it though.

Well, I think that the 'the smeg it is' caption at the end of s VIII sums it up for me: 'The End' was premature in many ways.

Doug Naylor has a NEW project on the way.

And with him and Rob Grant talking again after 14 years - I'd poo myself if they ever worked together again.

I believe they worked together to finish an episode from series one for the last DVD release

That's right - but it they did something totally new, then I'd poo myself.

Hearing about Bodysnatcher and the commentaries they did merely made me wet myself.

And then you found out you had to re-buy a series you already had for very little extra and that they wanted £35, and you pissed yourself laughing.

Very little extra?

A whole new episode voiced by Chris Barrie? A load of commentaries with Doug Naylor and Ed Bye? A Grant Naylor interview unearthed from years ago? A fascinating insight into GN getting screwed over having rescued Spitting Image? Two full 75 minute documentaries covering RD1 and 2 AND BBC comedy making in general. And loads more.

It's worth it, believe me.

I agree that the box set is worth owning but £35+ was very expensive for a 4 disc set. You can now pick it up for around £25 on Amazon though which is a fair price.
