I haven't bothered with the Echo Beach soap afterwards though.

No, me either; its an odd pairing really because you have to think that the main audience for the one, possibly isnt the main audience for the other.

And they're not meant to be - it's just two shows for the price of one really.

I liked tonights eppy!

Only saw Thursday's, so based on that: TV has officially eaten itself, but it was quite a nice experience. I thought Moving Wallpaper on its own was okay-ish, and I didn't pay full attention to Echo Beach. But I paid enough to the latter to find a fair number of good pay-offs in the Echo Beach plot/dialogue that had been set up by the Moving Wallpaper that preceded it (e.g. motorbike/one helmet/wet room/Jason D stays on). The downside for me is that (I am guessing) one really must watch both to fully appreciate it, and that's a lot of peak time viewing.

Hey all Long Time.........

Loved the first 2 episodes which have been brilliant! The show is Un PC and rips into TV ideologies + it is scarily real in parts. It even makes Echo Beach amusing (Echo could never run on it's own all too thin) !!
Ben Miller is excellent and the rest of the cast are strong too although the Susie Amy gag is a little too Barry eastenders in "Extra's". Loved Millers line about Ross Kemp "He's expensive and he's bald".... real irony coming from the channel who gave him millions ;-)

Cheers for now,

Guy ;-)

Realy liked episode 2 of Moving Wallpaper. Lots of laughs in the first half and it almost made me want to watch ep 2 of Echo Beach...but not quite.

I really love Moving Wallpaper and I've been a huge fan of Ben Miller since I saw him in "Worst Week."

I can't get on with Hollyoaks 2, oops, I mean Echo Beach though. I've suffered it simply because I enjoy making the 'connections' between the two shows, but while I feel Moving Wallpaper is very well written, I find Echo Beach incredibly weak and even boring. As much as I like the guy, Jason Donovan's acting is tragic, and the plot... is there a plot? Last week, for the first time, I turned over half way through. :O

Look forward to MW tonight though.

I think this show is brillant.

Because the server people are bloody idiots. >_<

How many more times are you going to blame the fictional "server people" for you own cock-ups?

Server people are yet to arouse me.

Five more times :)

Actually it really is the server people's fault. Well sort of... we really shouldn't be running such a big website off a FisherPrice server. As I'm sure you can appreciate, logistics and cost prevent us from just jumping to a bigger machine.

Finally getting around to watching these today. Not quite finished episode two yet, but very enjoyable and plenty of laughs. Love Ben Miller's character - and the wallpaper in his office. Great stuff. Can't believe I'm praising a modern ITV comedy.

It gets better too!

Moving Wallpaper is good -- I do like it. I managed one Echo Beach but the sheer tedium and hurt from having to watch soap opera, even if it was for the 'pay-off' gags, was totally, totally not worth it.

Dan

I only watched the first Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach. This clever-clever ides was let down but the bleeding obvious, as has been previously posted.

Pity, because if they had devised it as a forty-to-fifty minute show that intercut the action behind the scenes with the demonstrative soap scenes, it might have worked. In the end they serve both sitcom and soap audience badly, segregating them. Wasn't this obvious in pre-production?
