I think there was a mocumentary series with Chris Langham as the presenter/narrator. The Thick of IT is shot in the same style - without the 'to camera' scenes but otherwise it stands alone in sitcom terms.

It was called, I think, 'People Like Us', and it was great.

Correct name, never seen it though. Series one DVD is available to buy, but whether series two will ever make it remains to be seen.

That's the one. Not sure how appropriate Chris Langham starring in a programme titled 'People Like Us' is. It's a bit like asking Marilyn Manson to present 'Songs of Praise'.

'People Like Us' was before 'The Office' if I remember rightly (in fact if you watch 'People Like Us' first you can see 'The Office' has borrowed some directing style from that, and some from 'Operation Goodguys').

Langham was only the un-seen interviewer in People Like Us so I don't think his problems will affect the chances of series two making it to DVD.

I'm not sure that The Sun would see it that way Mark!

A good example would be Trigger Happy TV. Since then there's been very little hidden camera shows which were any good. This is, in my opinion, because Trigger Happy TV was so good there's no point making something similar.

Balls of Steel?

The Office? Has there been any docu-comedies since?

The Office USA?

Balls of Steel?

They key point in my theory was the 'any good' bit :)

Balls of Steel was good, it ended every week, I loved that part.

I think elements of Balls of Steel are better than Trigger Happy, Ned's Urban Sports always has/had me in stitches. The Devil was good too.

Though millitant black guy, that stunt man and those couple shagging fell flat.

I hate Dom Jolly. That guy is a prick! And for that, I hate Trigger Crappy.

I have no problem with that but Balls of Steel could hardly be defined as a genre setting/stopping show. I do except that following shows can have moments which are just as good as predecessors.
