Thanks for providing interesting topics and a place to learn a bit about trying to be funny. I've done lots of writing but so far it's been in ad format, so I've never had to hold anyone's concentration for more than a minute...

Excellent piece of work, Alec. It's also nice to see that the David Brent/Ricky Gervais character is still being gainfully employed.
Thanks everyone once again. As for my input, I created the idea for the client and wrote the script - although the bigot was a David Brent character. (This is just as the second series of the office was happening) As a rather large longshot, I sent it to PFD in the hope in might get involved for charidy. To his absolute credit he rang me and agreed to do it, gratis - under certain conditions. No one got paid, and that he could take the character away from the office into a blue collar arena. He also tweaked the script and took out all but two of my gags. We shot it it about 2 hours and apart from a couple of sessions in the edit suite, we never crossed paths again... sniff. Kirsty Young also gave her time for free, I fell in love, and then she was gone too.
Such a shame there was only ever enough money to run it on cinema.
