Doctor Who... Page 971

Incomprehesnible stupid story

I did like the soft toned bits where Claras looking around the Tardis

I saw the trailer for this after last week's episode and just thought "Nahhhhhhhhhh!".

Is there a plot but no exposition, or is there no exposition because there is no plot?

Either way the thinking seems to be that so long as the Doctor keeps gurning and assistant's skirt is short enough and everyone runs around a lot, viewers won't worry about whether any of it makes any sense.

They did add the world most stupid subplot with the guy who thought he was an android.

In case you didnt realise how stupid it is.

Was bored rigid this week.

I thought in the first few minutes that we were actually going to get a decent story told well. However the story soon turned to mush. Smith was the best he has been all series for me in this episode, he was playing the doctor not mr bean like he tends to do most of the time.

the only reason I keep watching is in anticipation of the anniversary episode, and to count up all the nods from the past we get in this series. Big rumors going around about the anniversary episode about who a certain someone is meant to be playing so I look forward to that, to see if it turn out to be true.

Oh dear.

All this episode achieved was making me want to go watch Red Dwarf -Future Echos

High-point for me was a very funny "sci-fi" line, which I can't remember exactly but came just after the Doctor's "Of course - I should have known!" epiphany. Something like -

"Don't touch each other or Time will reassert itself!"

SFX gave it 3 stars that's kiss of death

Well the last three episodes have been good, excellent and rubbish. Who knows what the next one will be like? It's set up north though, so it must be good! :)

Well, clearly I differ.

I liked this episode, because it didn't follow the usual formula.
Couple of plot oddities though.

Why were 3 HUMANS running a salvage space ship? It would have been better with a different race. Was there not a race that did salvage in past episodes?

Where did the magic button come from?

This episode promised much delivered little. The whole salvage android thing reminded me of the Colin Baker Era. Why is this second half of this series so poorly written. I mean I thought the Clara Dalek show and Christmas special were up there with the best, but the second half has been total bobbins. Time for a rethink, although next weeks show looks promising as it has Diana Rigg in it, but then they've all looked promising and mostly been shit.

This whole series arc plot I find underwhelming. If the main focus at the end is what is the doctors name then they really have runned out of ideas. If its more to do with his past and stuff he his hiding then that would be interesting. But knowing the lazy writing in this show it will be a cop out in the end.

Again, there was far too much happening for such a short episode. All that emotional stuff with the brothers was weak anyway, and had no bearing on the plot; in fact, they could have had the Tardis get into trouble without involving a salvage team, and instead use the leftover script time to actually tell a story properly. Also, what on earth was going on with those monsters, did anyone understand why people turned into them?

I was fully expecting a Deus ex machina resolution to this shambolic plot, so it was at least heartening that they should turn it into a joke by having a big button appear for the doctor to press and just solve everything.
