An unkown poppet, like Matt Smith. Or even David Tennant, nobody really knew muc about him before Whoification.

I think it should be David Warner... who turned up in last weeks episode and met himself.
James Franco.

I thought he was just some weasel faced nobody.
How little I knew...
I do like the look of the new cybermen. Hope the story does them justice.
Patterson Joseph

It's written by Neil Gaiman, so I think it's got a decent chance of being a good one. Apparently they're the 'proper' Cybermen, none of the parallel world Cybus jobbies.

Someone of his age would never be cast as the lead.

I think he'd had his own Radio Times cover by the time he was cast, as Casanova. He wasn't as known as Eccleston, but I think most would have recognised him. Unlike Smith.
Quote: Kenneth @ April 20 2013, 8:07 AM BSTThe Name of the Doctor? So they had a competition to see who could come up with the most boring title to deter viewers? Up His Own Arse in Emotional Shite must have come a close second.
Damn those pesky emotions!

I suppose even they don't know yet, so probably not.
No, though I don't think Smith will be leaving just yet. I think he'll leave during, or at the end of, the next series.
I caught Bargain Hunt yesterday and it struck me that Matt Smith's Doctor is virtually indistinguishable from Tim Wonnacott - the way he dresses, the way he is, everything.

Wonnacott always reminds me of a Terry Thomas who has eaten all the pies

Nah, he's relatively svelte for a man of his age. Although yes, he does have a vaguely Terry Tomas air.

He'd also been in Harry Potter.
For any nerds into 'classic' Who, this is a good listen; a Podcast looking at the Who work of different writers: http://dwtwr.libsyn.com/

David Dickinson would be great as the master.
They could slug it out in the auction-rooms of Andros Minor, the galaxy's biggest clearing house, run by a race of aliens who've evolved brilliant eyesight, very fast talking and gavels for fingers.
The Doctor would then discover that Lot 398 was his soul or a strand of his Timelord mitochondria or his bowtie and outbid everyone with his sonic screwdriver. I am Steven moffat.

The 'chest unit' was a vital part of the original design because it drew attention to the fact that they were still partly human and supported by a machine - it emphasised their tragedy. Unfortunately some f**kwit designed it out of the costume in the 80s and now they essentially resemble robots.
Note the continued bleed of Sherlock into Who -Nightmare in Silver/Study in Scarlet.
