This is a good post.

Thanks very much.

I watched it again last night. Here's some of the dialogue.

"Hello the chin."

"Tell me I'm cool, chin-boy."

"Rescue me chin-boy and show me the stars."

"Come up and see me sometime."

AMY: I can't have children.
RORY: I know.

At the risk of sounding like a character in a Harold Pinter play, what do you make of man who'd write dialogue like that?

FIREFLY is the DB!

It is. So is Dollhouse. Poor Griff would be turning in his grave if he read some of the rot on this thread.

The dialogue has a bigger tine ear than a novelty Cyberman hearing aid.

If she is the new companion you can expect an entire series of chin, chinny, chin-boy, Lord Chin, Sir Chin, Chin Head, Chin Face etc dialogue.

They also made a joke about the Doctor's ears during the episode if I remember correctly. That's nice, isn't it? I'm now starting to feel sorry for the Doctor.

Perhaps he could hit back by saying 'You're looking a bit fat today' - thus sending his new companion into a spiral of eating disorders and low self esteem until she's vomiting every meal into the Tardis boghole.

Nah, don't think that is generally true. At least, it seems to me to fit the tone and style of the show, and doesn't consistantly leap out at you as being 'wrong'.

That dialogue is embarrassing. All you're saying is it fits because the show is so camp and affected.

I hope Dinosaurs On A Spaceship is better than Snakes On A Plane.

I hope they keep to the spirit of the original.

THE DOCTOR: I've had it with these motherf**kin' dinosaurs on this motherf**kin' spaceship!

I'm not sure it's as bad as this snippet from Ghost Light:

Ace: White kids firebombed it!

There's a load of classic Who on Virgin Media at the minute, so I've started watching Ghost Light. It's wonderfully creepy and surreal. Good production values as well considering Who was given very little in this period. Or any period of the classic run really.

Agree; and I suppose, even for no money, the BBC could be trusted to pull off this sort of period look well.

Ghost Light is a brilliant story, and dark, lots of good lines (The cream of Scotland Yard) Frankly makes a mockery of those who think Who was terrible when it was cancelled.
