Christ, we're looking for Moff's replacement already!

Good.
Hate people flitting in and out of things.

I'm only guessing! It would seem a bit quick only doing two runs, but you never know.

Me and Godot should form a coalition and oust Moffat in 2013.

The over-arching narrative is certainly fashionable in TV at the moment

Not sure it's just fashionable 'at the moment'; nineties shows, like X-Files and Babylon Five had them, for example.

In all fairness Baker onwards Timelords were shit. Stupid costumes, intermidable plots and about as magnificent as an orange pair of yfronts with a skidmark.

Doing away with all that nonsense helped make the stories lighter and faster.

Albeit Pertwee stranded on Earth era was pretty good.

Who's Albert Pertwee?

B5 did, big-time.

But the X-Files only paid lip service -- it basically chucked out an "arc" story a couple of times a season to keep the fanbois happy.

It wasn't really until 24 that American drama serials really got their shit together.

New Who is more X-Files than Babylon 5, but I reckon it usually gets the balance pretty much right.

My personal preference would be more serial and less series, but I don't think that would be an entirely wise choice.

Quite. But you will always have fans, or at least viewers, who seem to be able to pinpoint exactly what is 'wrong' and how to improve things. We all know better than those fools making the show, right? Unimpressed

Right. I remember bewailing the bloody question marks that JNT put on Tom Baker's outfit. The question mark motif grew worse as the show slowly went downhill. Likewise we all knew that Colin Baker's rainbow clown cloak was daft, and that McCoy's jumper and umbrella handle looked childish.

Not to mention McCoy's f**king question mark jumper.

When Nathan-Turner had Tom Baker's costume redesigned he gave the designer carte blanche and even gave her the option of dispensing with the scarf - which of course she didn't do. The question marks were is sole requirement. She hid them on the lapels. Subsequently, they became more obvious...

Anyone who requests question marks on the costume of a character called 'Doctor Who' and who isn't having a laugh should be catapulted into the sun.

How about having a Vietnamese Time Lord?

Dr Hu.

There's always a lot of criticism of Who after every broadcast. Well I have decided to not do that. Instead, I'll criticise it before the broadcast. So for tommorow's episode, which I've not even seen; that miner becoming infected and changing gradually into that thing was very much like The Ark in Space, wasn't it? Why can't they come up with some original ideas? And as for the bit involving the engagement ring, well anyone could see *that* coming. Oh, and the acting..pah! They didn't even look scared. But at least it's nice to know that Silurians will be living in harmony with man in 10 years time.

Radio Times says it doesn't live up to the excitement of the first part, so BCG servers should be warned there is potential for lots of irate fan traffic.

Sure, with a bit of imagination you can do wonders with a small budget, as DOCTORS proves.

Thanks Chip.

? But, he is, isn't he?? I thought that was the whole thing with the Time War,

Do not get me started with the 'Time War' unless you can explain it!!!

Quote: Godot Taxis @ May 24 2010, 1:48 PM BST

Killing off the whole Time Lord race just so you can have a free pathos injection at the flick of switch is not acceptable.

This.

Quote: Matthew Stott @ May 24 2010, 11:01 PM BST

No, they are supposed to be dead. The Time Lords you saw in that finale were about to be time locked and about to all die; the whole gubbins with The Master was a way of cheating that and escaping the Time lock and thier death.

Stop with the time locked - it's gibberish,

Quote: Marc P @ May 28 2010, 11:10 PM BST

Stop with the time locked - it's gibberish,

It's a fantasy show, a whole lot of it is gibberish if you're going to look at it in such a cold way really.
