Shit. Missed it again this week and Ashes to Ashes
Doctor Who... Page 433
Of course you should! It's made specifically for kids to watch with their families.
From watching Buffy, I have been led to believe wigging out means freaking out/getting scared...?
Ah.
Well, maybe American kids are wimpier than British ones then.

Well my kids can watch anything else, but Who is the only thing short of a video nasty which I have to be careful of, because it can (and does) give them sleepless nights.
Quote: Nil Putters @ April 17 2010, 11:18 PM BSTTwo more points.
How does a propellor work, in space, where there's no air to propel?
This sort of thing doesn't bother me. I'm sure they could have spent a few minutes giving us some sort of explanation, but I'd rather take it for granted that they could do it, given that they can invent antigravity devices and the like.
Without it being spelled out, there's more time for action.

Exactly.
Quote: Nil Putters @ April 17 2010, 11:32 PM BSTIt was absurd,
Where as a Spitfire in space shooting lasers at a UFO was perfectly acceptable!
Quote: Aaron @ April 17 2010, 11:45 PM BSTI don't see how Moffat, or this, is anything different or special from any other episode or series that has been on.
There has been a slightly differnt feel, less urban, or contempory feeling, for one thing. A bit more fairytale, as the production team have been banging on about, perhaps; certainly the first two eps. But the series itself hasn't suddenly completely changed, no.
I thought this weeks episode was pretty weak, the story was just nowhere near as interesting as the first two and the whole episode relied on gimmicks.
My main annoyance though was the number of opportunities the Daleks had to kill the Doctor but decided not to.
Less annoying things were how cheap the interior of the Dalek ship looked, did they re-use a set from the 70s? The Jammy Dodger that was clearly a Jammy Dodger from the second he held it up. And the stupid Jelly Baby Daleks at the end.
Harrumph!!

Well, I'm still not convinced.
Am I all alone in disliking the fact that every time New Who gets serious, especially when the Doctor is having a terribly poignant moment with himself or a companion, the incidental sound/music becomes just like that of Titanic, with an almost operatic female voice softly singing spooky "wooh-waah-ooh-ooh-ooh" type stuff?
After reading various forums I don't udnerstand all the dislike for it. Personally I really enjoyed it - best Dalek episode since "Dalek," and maybe "Bad Wolf/Parting Of The Ways." I mean, it had Churchill, angry Doctor, Spitfires in Space, etc.
I'm not sure Matt Smith has really stamped himself on the role yet. I kept thinking yesterday when The Doctor discovered Churchill had his own Daleks, that Tennant would have really gone balistic. Matt Smith didn't seem to convey the anger that he would have felt.

that jumps out and shows a little weakness in the script writing
they kill 2 marines and then just piss off, he was in their blinking sights
Well, I watched the episode alone and I'm glad I did. My kids all have crazy imaginations and I know that they would have been up all night. Especially my daughter, who has a large crack in her wall. But I have it recorded, so I'm sure I'll give in at some point this week. They are all on their Spring Break.
but lay off the fat daleks they're ace
like Vanessa Feltz with a deathray

Thank Christ for that. Not only is Matt Smith terribly good-looking, he is not grossly overplaying the emotions like Tennant did (though I have only seen the first episode of Series 5 so far).
