Very, very interested, yeah! Maybe not quite obsessed; I haven't even seen every Who story, and I've watched the thing my whole life.

Only the obsessed would slip the word "even" into that sentence!

But with the Daleks in episode 3...

Nobody mentioned the little flag the Daleks wear in the trailer yet? Intriguing, no?

Yep, some crafty Dalek plan in the works, no doubt . . .

Be nice to have a different take on them again, their last few stories have hardly been winners. 'Dalek' is still by far the best story featuring the Daleks since the show returned.

Colin Baker, once you can handle the costume, was fine. If you're a fanatic, perhaps you'd consider getting the Asian Pirated DVD set of "ALL 752 Uncut Episodes (as of Dec 25, 2008) on 193 DVDs" for US$230.

Looks like a major scam and definitely pirated, but I did find this review, which was not entirely negative:

A good friend of mine, a huge Who fan, bit the bullet and purchased one of these "complete" sets but not from one of the sellers advertising on the page. Here's what I can tell you.

Is it for real? Yes and no.

Yes you get a complete set--of copies. You are, in essence, buying a complete set of burned DVDs. Technically, this is illegal, copyright infringement and such. If you don't have a problem with that, go right ahead. No, they didn't empty his bank account.

As to the missing early episodes, they were either: a) new versions with animation (if available); or b) they were production stills set to the audio tracks of the episode. In some cases, neither was possible and the seller clearly mentioned this.

95% of the episodes (he has all of them up to new Series 3) are excellent quality, the remaining 5% look like they are bad VHS copies.

The "new versions with animation" sounds interesting (if not just The Invasion) as do the "production stills set to the audio tracks of the episode".

Perhaps you'll risk investing in the illegal set - and if the "missing early episodes" are any good you could pass them on to me. Thanks. Otherwise, all of the existing Classic Who should be on DVD within another 2 or 3 years.

I lost interest a bit in the TV show when Peter Davison took over.
They never had Daleks or Cybermen or any good enemies(to start with) and it all looked very cheap.

Having recently seen a couple of Tom Baker episodes I realised that it was always that Cheap, and I was just getting older.
(Although I definitely think it was better back in the 70s when everything was cheap.)

I think I became more of a fan from reading all the old Target Novels.

Interesting seeing the Daleks in a World war 2 environment.
Weren't they based on the Nazis originally?
They did have a couple of them speaking German in series 3 as I recall, but those looked like salt of the earth British Dads Army Daleks .

Ok not mentioned directly, but implied certainly.

You mean the Peter Davison era never had Daleks or Cybermen? Or the Bill Hartnell era never had them?

I'm pretty sure both had both.

Hartnell had loads of Daleks & Troughton had loads of Cybermen.
Pertwee had a few Dalek stories as well but no Cybermen.

I was just saying that it took a while for Peter Davison to meet the old enemies & by then I'd lost interest a bit.

Yes, both William Hartnell and Peter Davison battled Daleks and the Cybermen.

Ah, yes. Davison's first story, Castrovalva, was incredibly dull. The Cybermen eventually showed up in his sixth story, Earthshock, which was good.

Ooh, I remember rating them the other way round. In fact Castrovalva was great.

Yes; he had some ropey stories, but he himself was good.

Yeah, it was always cheeeaap.

I did like Earthshock, It was about time they brought in the big guns.
I was a little disappointed that you could see the mouths moving in the Cybermasks.

I watched Castrovalva as an undiscerning child and enjoyed it because I was huge fan of Peter Davison - as Tristan was my favourite character in All Creatures Great and Small. I put on the DVD of Castrovalva last year and only managed the first episode and a bit of the second, before passing out on the couch. It seemed so dull, he just wandered about in a boring daze and might have passed out too. I'll have to give it another shot.

I have to admit to only watching it on first broadcast so it might notstand up that well.
