Ha, insisted. What is she, Moffat's niece or summink?
Doctor Who... Page 411
Quote: Matthew Stott @ April 5 2010, 9:34 PM BSTApparently, there have been a few complaints about the episode being too, erm, sexy?!
Including this one:
"They've completely demeaned Doctor Who by replacing good episode stories with sl*tty girls," another stated.
Some people really are idiotic.
Yes, but these complaints mainly seem to come from journos writing for The Daily Mail posing as viewers, so I wouldn't get too upset.
Apparently her short skirts can give you cancer, or cure cancer.
I forgot which probably both.
Quote: sootyj @ April 5 2010, 9:48 PM BSTApparently her short skirts can give you cancer, or cure cancer.

And killed Diana?
(Or have I got the wrong paper there??)
Don't be silly.
It's her ginger hair and winsome smile that killed Diana.
Her short skirts are used by Rumanians to kill swans.
Quote: Mickeza @ April 3 2010, 8:24 PM BSTWell, I thought it was bloody fantastic, to introduce a new doctor and new assistant in such a manner was nothing short of genius,, the story itself wasn't exactly first rate .
But the skirt was great?
Quote: Matthew Stott @ April 3 2010, 9:31 PM BSTIt's funny though, because many, many of the episodes that didn't have his name on, he actually ended up writing huge chunks of. Like The Impossible Planet, Human Nature and Dalek. There are only a few writers, such as Moffatt, that RTD didn't rewrite and have a large affect on their episodes.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing Matthew?
Quote: Aaron @ April 3 2010, 11:48 PM BSTThe theme tune was bad. Smith's new Doctor was not great, but better than I feared he might be; Matt Smith in interviews is genuinely painful to watch. He comes across as such a massive tool, and one who neither knows nor cares about the series at all.
The plot was a bit crap. Obviously it wasn't going to be a full-on sci-fi dealie as they had to introduce the new Doctor, set him up, and find his assistant - but it was hard to folllow the logic of what the Doctor was doing at times.
Stepping through the vision of the old Doctors at the end, God, barf-enducingly cringeworthy. Keep that kind of thing to CBBC.
Oh, and that assistant bird needs a new accent. Her current voice makes me wish I was deaf.
Overall: roughly what I'd expected. Perhaps future episodes will benefit from plotting and whatnot, but as a stand-alone episode it was quite a step down from most others of the recent series.
Where's the tick symbol?
Quote: Marc P @ April 5 2010, 10:13 PM BSTIs this a good thing or a bad thing Matthew?
What d'you mean? I was just saying that a lot of the episodes that have been highly praised by people who slagged off RTD had actually been worked on quite a bit by him. It's probably not so good for RTD, as because his name wasn't on them, he doesn't get any real credit for episodes like Dalek, or Human Nature.

So, like Aaron, you also have a passionate hatred of the Scottish accent??
Why can't you tolerate ANY criticism whatsoever of Doctor Who, Stott? Even shows I really love I'm happy to concede have faults, but you seem to view Who as an untouchable and perfect work of art.
Not read any of the thread for the last few days, but I've just watched Saturday's episode and wanted to give my $0.02.
F**king incredible. Thank you Mr Moffat.
Matt Smith = Not a twat after all.

I found it to be the exact opposite. I'm a massive sci-fi geek, and it was the first episode in ages that made any kind of internal sense to me.
Stepping through the vision of the old Doctors at the end, God, barf-enducingly cringeworthy. Keep that kind of thing to CBBC.
It would have been had the rest of the episode not been so damn tight.
Quote: sootyj @ April 4 2010, 12:21 AM BSTI still maintain however good Tenant was he was working against some truly duff scripts no one could save.
Yup.
Quote: sootyj @ April 5 2010, 9:41 PM BSTHooray for dads looking for the change in their trouser pockets across the UK.
It's as much for the sex-mad little boys, as it is for the dads.

No I think the assistant was good.

If you read through my posts on this loooong thread (Don't, that would be weird and take ages) you would see that I too have bad things to say about the show. For instance, Tennant's final five specials, I only really rate The Waters Of Mars as an actual great episode of Who (Though his final two parter had plenty of great moments). I assume these threads are here for us to discuss shows, as such, if I disagree, I'll bring it up.
But yeah, I probably stick up for the show a bit too much, but that's only because my opinion is so vastly superior to everyone elses.

But an Ood with boobies.

Fair enough, it's just sometimes you remind me of a Blair Babe during the late nineties, when they could tolerate no criticism of our glorious leader.
