And it's a shame that you hold historical dramas or adaptations of classic novels in such contempt, but fortunately not everyone does, which is why the BBC still makes them.

Day of the Triffids was yet another remake and though they tried to give it a more modern twist, it still came across as a bit cack handed and predictable.
I only hold historical dramas in contempt when it's just the same old tired re-tread we've seen a million times before - orphans and corsets mainly. I did, however, enjoy the recent series Rome - but that might have been because it was done in a different way and had some HBO influence.
Nothing would make me happier then to do my own sci-fi series, which is my eventual goal. I first need to build myself up to the point where I can actually get an agent, never mind critical success.
