Doctor Who... Page 278

Charlie Kaufman.

What writers would we all like to see write for Doctor Who not counting ourselves?

I'd like to see Terrance Dicks make a comeback; Alan Moore (especially since he's got Who previous from the Marvel comic); I wish the Stephen Fry script had gone ahead, that would have been interesting; Joss Whedon and/or Jane Espenson; and maybe Jasper Fforde?

I'd say no to Dicks I think, he's done his stint, I don't need to see another one from him. I'd say yes to Gaimen, and Whedon would be interesting; Moore would be fantastic. I don't see, even as an experiment, why they don't put aside one slot a year for these sort of writers, just to see what they would do with the format.

Charlie Kaufman.

Ha! That would be mental.

Joss Whedon!? We've have 4 years of RTD trying to be him, so I'd say no.

I dunno what Philip Martin is up to these days, but he's one I would approach for a script. Alan Moore would be the best writer ever on the show, so I'd love to see what he would come up with.

Kaufman excellent choice!

I just want to see Dicks have a crack at the new show for nostalgia reasons. This is the guy who invented the concept of Time Lords. Surely they can find it in their heart to give him an episode.

Does he even still write? He must be pretty old by now. I'd have maybe Marc Platt, or Ben Aaronovitch have a crack; I liked the stuff they did in the original runs dying days.

Hey don't judge a guy by his imitators! Whedon runs rings round RTD on every possible yardstick.

True!

Surely it's not too late for them to make Marc Platt's Lungbarrow.

I bet RTD is a bigger gay though.

Yeah, Dicks wrote some novels for the Virgin/BBC "New Adventures" range. Pretty pulpy stuff, but the couple I read were decent page-turners.

I used to really like the Virgin New Adventures series of books, some good stuuf, and housed a lot of the new series writers. Human Nature was brilliant, so brilliant RTD snapped it up for series three!
