Doctor Who... Page 260

Huh? That's crazy talk from Zooo; she may not fancy him, but he can certainly act. Whether he ends up being a good Doctor is something we'll have to wait and see, obviously.

zooo: I've never seen him in anything, and he came across as a bit of a twat. That's not much of a defence, but that's all I've got. I wasn't expecting a 12-year old emo.

No, I did want someone older, but I like him, he's odd looking in a good way and I've liked him in other things.

zooo: What have you seen him in?

Quote: Moonstone @ January 3 2009, 6:19 PM GMT

:S

Where is zooo? Why can't she speak?

She is too tired to type. ;)

She is too tired to type. ;)

So how is she telling you what to say?

Quote: Aaron @ January 3 2009, 6:20 PM GMT

zooo: What have you seen him in?

Certainly the two shows they showed clips from, Party Animals and The Sally Lockheart things Billie Piper was in.

Well, I must have missed the twat bits! :D

Because she's lying down right next to me.

Not from zooo: Ah, well I did see him in Party Animals and although he was quite good, I'm not convinced.

Awwwwwwwww.
You dirty pair!

Quote: Griff @ January 3 2009, 6:21 PM GMT

Matt - I'm not happy with this casting because I don't think youthful Doctors work. For example that wet blanket Davison.

Don't know about that, I liked both him and Tennant.

F**king Hell.

The perfect modern actor, tall, young and of indeterminate sexual preference with the features of an easter island statue and a neck long enough to pick up Sky. A c**t chosen by other c**ts who are raping my childhood. We all wish we were in charge of Who so I think I'm justified in saying that.

The Doctor used to be a father figure - under Nathan Turner and Russell Davies he became a romantic lead - now he's... somebody's boyfriend...

Still, Doctor who has been shit since 1980 anyway, so what does it matter as Matt Stott would say.

To anyone unconvinced, you can only assume that Moffatt and others in charge saw something in him, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how he attacks the part.

Aaron's done it with a lady!

You really are nothing more than a sour, grumpy pain in the arse aren't you? I'm off for me tea.

CUT OUT AND KEEP GUIDE TO THE NEW DOCTOR:

He's too young/gay/straight/weird/normal/male/white.

He's not tall/short/big/manly/old/female/gay/straight/black/Tennanty enough.

Just delete the words you don't need.

And I agree with you agreeing with me, Griff.

Philip Hinchcliffe is widely regarded as the best producer the show ever had. He is still alive and was taken off the series early under the old BBC producer system. Anyone wanting to make Who great again would come in and make him executive prod. or at least some sort of advisor to the show. That he is not connected is some sort of scandal. After all RTD has no more right to the Who franchise than anyone else.

Chris Boucher is also still going strong and writing Who novels - why hasn't he been asked to contribute a script - he'd do better than that piss-poor Oliver! meets The Wizard of Oz spunked-on Christmas turkey of a special we've just had.

Mmm. Satire on the who thread. It won't catch on/be understood/help enough.

I've just been on other sites looking at people's reaction, and you wouldn't believe some the comments that are coming out. Nice to come back here where people are more easy going.

The key thing to the success of the next Doctor will be the scripts, so hopefully things will pick up on that front, though obviously some of the aspects of the new show that I don't like will probably be retained. But fingers crossed, eh?

Quote: Griff @ January 3 2009, 6:45 PM GMT

I'd like to see Terrance Dicks get a shot at a script too.

F**k's sake, he's the guy who invented the concept of Time Lords and no-one asks him to write for the new series?

Shit, yeah!
