It is a bit distracting, isn't it. I mean, we've still got a whole years worth of episodes with Tennant. Any new Doctor won't be properly in the prog for best part of a year and a half.
Yes. It's not quite as bad as when it was announced that Ecclestwat was leaving even before his first episode went out, but it's in the same ballpark.
I'm surprised that nobody is mentioning Mark Gatiss. I don't want it to be him, it's just surprising.

I still miss Ecclestone *sigh* But he had a lot of Doctor manerisms (sp?) in Heroes, which was nice. He evan said "fantastic."
Eccleston was great in Heroes, he should have been in it more. It would be a great twist if somehow he rejenerated back into him. Not that that will happen, but it would certainly be interesting.

Aside from the aforementioned age/stamina, I'm guessing that they'll want someone who's reasonably attractive to women, without pissing off too many men by having a pretty boy in the role.
