Doctor Who... Page 1,122

Happy (slightly late since it was the 20th of January) 90th birthday to Tom Baker, still one of the best Doctors ever.

HDid anyone catch te efirst two episodes of the new series
Wasn't sure what to think, but it was nice to see Colin Baker back as a villain in episode 2

Were you drunk when you typed that 😁

'Cos, I watched that second episode "Devil's Chord" ('Colin Baker back as a villain in episode 2' - Really? I didn't see him) purely to see how they would handle going back to meet The Beatles, otherwise to be honest I would not have bothered, having not watched the programme since, I don't know when - probably about the late 1960s in the Hartnell/Troughton time, and what I would like to know is why on the IMDb they show the series as starting with S1 E1 in 2006?!?! Weird or what?

Much like those who insist on quoting football statistics solely back to the advent of the Premier League. Never mind the 103 years that went before.

The 1963-89 series is listed separately.
2023 is also listed as an entirely new fresh start.

You have to go in by the back door, but it is there... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056751/episodes/?ref_=tt_eps_sm

Wasn't so keen on the babies but I loved Maestro, they'd better come back later in the series.

But why, but then it is now an American site, so one has to make allowances I suppose

No! IMDB is a British site.

Really! Well, the way I read it once, it was founded by two English geeks, but since been taken over by the Yanks, and this I have just now read ".......and IMDb became a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon in April 1998."

And there's no denying the language on the site is def. American with such things a "seasons" and not "series", along with American spellings such as missing out the "u" in words such as "rumour"

Yes - it's American owned and run.
Pretty well the industry go-to source for movie info, so is bound to have a US slant.

I think that was one of Steve Sunshine's jokes, i.e. he was cheekily saying that the drag queen character 'The Maestro' looks like Colin Baker, i.e. big with mad bright hair etc.!

Yeah, the role of The Maestro was played well, with just the right level of OTT-ness to be crazily villanous without getting annoying! I could have done without all the f**ken singing towards the end of the episode, but I suppose it was Eurovision night..! From the preview, it looks like the next episode is going to be a bit darker/more serious.

And so, m'lud the case of libel against The Right Hon. Hercules G. Thynne is found to be lacking of evidence, and the case is dropped.

I thought tonight's episode, '73 Yards', was very good... creepy and unpredictable, with a weird dreamlike feel at times. Best one of this series so far IMO.
