The last companion was a black lesbian.
Try not to cry too much about it, Herc. I know the presence of non white males on television hurts you deeply.

Was it? I couldn't give flying f**k who plays the part as I stopped watching Dr. Who back in the 1970s - I was trying to make the point that everyone in the media seems to be bending over backwards to out PC each other. All rather pathetic really.
Of course Moffatt did it first, back in the 90s, when Hugh Grant regenerated into Joanna Lumley.
The only people that go on about being PC are the ones who get annoyed by it.
And most of the whiny babies seem to be (as usual) people who don't even watch the show, but are just professional whiners, who like getting their knickers in a twist.
I don't get my knickers in a twist as my wife's lacy ones don't fit anyway (too much meat down there) and the only problem I have is when it hangs on the wrong side and I sit on one of me nuts................ouch.
The world is on the road to hell and thank God I won't be around to see it.
Yep, hell is paved with um... women being allowed on TV. For sure.
Now you are being typically silly.
It gives the studios an easy, lazy, opportunity to remake every show/film by changing the sex/race of all the characters.
"Spider-woman! Jamey Bond! Mrs. Bean! Mum's Army! Look how edgy and woke we are!"
Looking forward to see who the new (male) Hetty Wainthropp is going to be.
Not to mention: Charlene's Angels, in which the angels are Burt Reynolds, Lee Majors and Kenneth Williams.
I am delighted to see a woman doctor. I just hope the show don't focus on gender throughout the run. Not too many clever little asides or blatant dialogue poking fun at gender stereotyping. Sure, there can be some shock when met by former incarnations and enemies, but we need not be beaten over the head with it. Perhaps there can be an episode where David Tennant is brought back and shags his future self, spawning some inbred timelord tots?

They could really get people riled up by having a white man in drag play the character.

My biggest fear.
The first Capaldi season was marred by constant references to his age.
The second by drearily focussing on Bill's sexuality.
Isn't the whole point of equality that it shouldn't matter - just tell a decent story.
Sci-fi, if at all possible.
Agree. Go back to hatching the moon.

Like it, but still wouldn't watch - it went downhill after William Shatner Hartnell. How I long for those B&W days when men were men and women were grateful.
Awaits, hopefully, for smack on botty from zooo
Has the Doctor got any "bits" anyway? Surely it's all just a facade for an Alien Life Form.
Quote: Definitely Tarby @ 16th July 2017, 10:25 PMGreat news that the next doctor will be female and about time. After all, female doctors are almost as good as male doctors.
Almost!
Quote: shaggy292 @ 16th July 2017, 10:25 PMSeriously? She was in all 3 series as Danny Lattimer's mum.
I only saw the last series and my attention was probably taken by Sarah Parish.
