Doctor Who... Page 1,048

That was piss poor.

Haven't watched the whole thing again yet, but re-watched the last ten minutes-ish, with old Smith going up the tower to 'die'; and that's good stuff. Nice for the end to be sort of joyous rather than mopey.

'Love from Gallifrey, boys!'

He was still going through the change, remember. His Doctor could end up totally different to that when he levels out.

Exactly, look at Tom Baker. He was particularly manic in his opening scene and then he calmed... oh...

My dear chums sardo's review

So Matt Smith is gone. My fave 3 stories from each series of his little era (now you can all stop PM'ing me, begging to know):

Series 5:
The Eleventh Hour
Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang

Series 6:
Impossible Astronaut/Day of The Moon
The Doctors Wife
The Girl Who Waited

Series 7:
Hide
The Crimson Horror
The Name of The Doctor

Best Christmas ep: The Snowmen

And of course The Day of The Doctor was brilliant.

I've not followed the Smith era that closely, but thought Vincent and the Doctor was a splendid episode.

Probably because you cried like a big Jessie at the end.

Oh, I liked that doll house episode too. Those puppets were creepy.

And I cried at the end.

That's all I ask for from Who. Some tears, man!

I liked that one a lot. Though it seems to be placed pretty low on most lists I've seen.

What was the one in the haunted house from the last series? It was all 1970s. I seem to remember that being a good one too.

Hide, it's in my top three for that series because it was tops.

Hide was brilliant and frustrating.

Look at it, just bloody look at it.

A compact, marvel of low key scifi story telling. Exactly what Brit TV can excel at, but it's just it.

It even showed how low key, subtle fx can really enhance a scifi show.

And it went down so well they immediately asked the writer if he could do another, and he pooped out the somewhat less good Rings episode, with the singing girl, which actually aired before Hide.

I thought the last one was rubbish.
It's just not going to be the same without Matt Smith :(
Such a shame because the one before was fantastic and I was expecting this one to be similar quality.

I may be wrong but I get the impression Matt Smith deciding to leave took Moffat by surprise a bit. And that he'd have rather had him for another series or so.
