Any of our Stand-ups doing gong in Derby?

Given that I met two people from this forum randomly when I did this in Nottingham I thought I would check if any of you are going to be there on Saturday in Derby.

I seem to always be in the area of where these things are happening and end up going to them, it almost makes me think I secretly hate Newcastle given how infrequently I seem to actualy be there.

But if any of you guys are going to the Derby one then let me know so I can come and talk to you rather than ending up talking to the nutcase who insists on talking to me whilst staying in his ridiculous character (If I say Barnaby Thompson I think you will know what I mean).

(not that I didn't enjoy his act but just he was weird to talk to).

So, as a stand up, what do you do? Just travel around for miles searching out gigs? Thats what puts me off, being Birmingham based and unable to drive, it seems like its to difficult and a hassle to gig on a regular basis. Hopefully moving to London next year though, which seems like the a place where there are an endless amount of possible gigs. Good luck with the show by the way.

Well what I do is have a lot of friends all over the country and keep going to visit them and then luck shines on me and I find out there is an open gig going on somewhere on my route back home on the day I was planning on travelling back anyway.

If you want to know about places for open stand-up in birmingham then put on your flame retardant gloves, troll repellant and bitch shield and visit the chortle forums under I believe the chortle gold section and there should be a list of places that do open mic.

I once done some guy nicknamed gong but he wasneeee from Derby. I think he was from Little Hampton. He was scottish or irish. I get mixed up. He had a wibbly wobbly eye on the right side. It freaked me out so I dumped him. He actually cried. Well from the straight eye.

Good luck for tonight Ondupe. I'm from Derby, but I'm not in the city at the moment, else I'd have come along and said hi. Have a great night!

I was going to be doing Derby tomorrow but I don't think I can make it due to work but if I can at the last minute I may try and get down...

Good luck dude.

I will hopefully be doing some gigs in london if I can ever pass my damned driving test.

Paul the last thing you need to do is drive in London!!!

Fair point... But better gigs :(

How did it go Gareth (Ondupe)?

I may have to com along to one of these gigs to watch people from here performing. I think Derby's probably a 1.5 to 2 hour drive, but I do like stand up!

Yeah worth a drive... I have a full gig coming up in febuary in leicester... and I get 5 minutes with no gongs to bother me it's mentioned in another thread somewhere about the laughing horse comp.

Because he was from Littlehampton? That's a bit harsh. Just because that's where he was from.

I bet you preferred a bloke from Greater Cockandballs.
