Max & Paddy ... Page 2

For what it's worth, which isn't much - I think Paddy is both a crap actor, and un-sit-on-able of face.

But he has got a 'Football Bloopers' DVD out! Why do I get the feeling I'm going to get this for Christmas... :(

Your local RSPCA shop is calling. :)

Thats ok Zooo. I have never had a mind to enter a queuing system. I just want to sit straight down.

:D

Actually, that would make queuing for the bus so much more enjoyable.

Laughing out loud Defo Zooo! Laughing out loud

A second series of Max & Paddy is about as welcome as a new Cheeky Girls album. The first series was absolutely awful. A desperate attempt at rekindling past glories by Peter Kay - it's no coincidence that he's done virtually nothing since (other than popping up on stage at various gigs he really shouldn't be interrupting (The Stereophonics at Preston Guild Hall, for one) and scraping the very bottom of the barrel to cobble together 'an act' for Parky's final show).

And that "best of" DVD he had out for Christmas. I'm not paying £12.99 or whatever the price is to see that gimp walking off 5 different stages.

I quite enjoyed Max and Paddy, until I thought about. I can just watch it and it's quite amusing.

However, for me, the biggest difference between M&P and Phoenix Nights is that when you sit down and think about it, M&P is rubbish. The writing is appalling. The desperate attempt to establish catchphrases and sell T-Shirts at the expense of logical conversation is pathetic. The over-reliance on "Who remembers Opal Fruits?" type humour is poor. The situations aren't funny. Midgets aren't funny. Paddy being rogered by a black man isn't funny. Paddy McGuiness' acting is hideous.

Overall, it's a really poor show. The two characters (and the two actors) aren't capable of carrying the show. The writing is crippled by the introduction of McGuiness as opposed to Fitzmaurice and Spikey.

Like I said, I can watch it and enjoy it, as long as I don't think about it at all and I don't compare it to Phoenix Nights.
