We have an idea for a character but someone said that it reminded them of Little Britain 1's scottish hotelier who thought his TV was a magic portal. Can anyone flesh this out and explain the brunt of where the jokes were going as I've never seen an episode with this guy in it. Our idea is based around witchcraft.
Need some Little Britain advice
In Little britain the Scottish Hotelier says "yes" alot in a comedy fashion. "Is this is a hotel?" "yyyeeeaaassshhh!"
From what I can remember, he describes obvious things in almost Tolkien hobbity riddle type way if you know what I mean. "Do ye know of a fruit, that grows from the ground, red in colour and fleshy to touch" etc
And then he plays a flute.
This is probably the worst description of a character ever. I'm sorry Slag.
No, it's putting some flesh on the bones. It looks as though the two ideas are not that similar. Anyone else like to add or amend to that, please?
SlagA, it's Little Britain so there really isn't anymore to it than a customer asking the sinister hotelier a question and the hotelier responding "yyyeeeaaassshhh!" or "maybe I am and maybe I'm not!" and then playing a flute.
Cue hysterical laughter from the sort of arseholes who own T-shirts with 'Am I bovvered?' and 'Yeah but no but yeah' printed on them.
I walked into that. Our character isn't a hotelier but I was worried that they had a witchcraft theme to it, but as they haven't I'm more relieved.
Cheers GJ, I think Lucas and Walliams will be scribbling down your description as it seems far more expansive than the character notes they made themselves.
SlagA - there's a clip of the character on the BBC website - click - he seems to live in his own alternative Ye Old reality thus everything modern is somehow magical.
I can't help but feel they must have got the "yeeeesss" catch phrase from the Simpson's portrail of the "eeeeeeyeeesss" waiter (aka "stroke guy" who I think is a mix of Vincent Price and Frank Nelson).
I've thought that as well
