Just got an email from bloke who wrote '51st Stat

A few months back, I sent an email to Stel Pavlou, who wrote '51st State', which starred Samuel L. Jackson. I told him I'd written my first script, and asked him to give me some advice, about whether I should have a go at getting it made into a film, or just stick to it being a sitcom. Anyway, I finally got a reply today. First he apologised for taking so long, blaming the fact that he recently got married. Then he advised me to go for whatever I love the most, out of sitcoms or films. He said he'd tried to get stuff on T.V. many times in the past, but had failed each time. He said he'd found the process of getting a script made into a film, much easier.

By the way, I know Stel pavlou may seem like a pretty random person to ask for advice. The main reason I did it, was because '51st State' was filmed/set in my hometown, Liverpool, which is where my story also takes place.

cool, so which are you going for?

He sounds like a very nice bloke. Many people wouldn't have replied. Good luck with your script.

Just goes to show that writers are people too.

51st State was a very weird, slightly funny but good movie.

I used to work in a video shop and would always give people 50 First Dates when they asked for this.

HA HA HA Laughing out loud

Very good! Did you also advise people that Rita Sue and Bob Too was a pretty poor sequel?

Probably sitcom.

The funny thing is, about a year before '51st State' came out, I was in a taxi one day, going to Liverpool city centre, and the driver started telling me about a mate of his, who had just written a film, which had been given the green light by Producers, and was going to feature Samuel L. Jackson. He said some big-time movie men had recently visited the city to get to know it and look for possible locations at which they could film, and he'd been given the job of driving them around. I thought it sounded crazy at first, but a year later, I realised he'd been telling the truth.

Sounds like a good plot for a film! ;)
