Sorry AJP, but either you hand in your notice, or wait a day and get a £2.5 Million pay off. Dignity's fine (A good song from Deacon Blue), but it don't pay the bills

and a rush goaley would be good.

Any sort of a goalie would be good!
McLaren never achieved anything as a manager. He assisted Ferguson and Erikson. Then managed Middlesbrough and won nothing. Good pedigree for an England Manager.
I'll do it for a couple of weeks on pay and then if I'm no good you can sack without compensation.
As a big football fan, I'm very angry. It's a waste of time playing Crouch up front on his own. Wayne Bridge was the worst player for me. Steve's been sacked now, please come to us Mr Mouriniho. I was so annoyed last night, I took the frustration out on my blinds, they now have teeth marks in them.
Steve Gerrard as captain? - I've seen more aggressive field mice. His gee-up for the flaky back four was feeble. In his pre-match interview he said something about a speech to the boys. I hope they recorded it.
"Erm erm erm let's go out and erm erm let's maybe score a erm erm erm goal ... maybe ... if Croatia don't mind that is erm erm..."
Shaun Wright Phillips played well until the England team realised he was playing well and stopped passing the ball to him before diverting their attention to the left. Where an ineffectual Bridge spent his time running into forward areas and giving the ball away.
For so many to play so badly on a day you thought they'd run their guts out, it makes you wonder if it wasn't their way of getting McClaren out. Did you notice how few went to congratulate Crouch after he scored?

Was that our back four?

That I can get on board with.
I'd prefer Harry Redknapp.
I'm glad we're not even going to next years championships. I can't be alone in hating all those St. Georges flags that come out in the run up to a big championship (and then disappear the minute we fail to get past the group stages). And there's something unbearably borish about England fans abroad, wandering around in their ridiculously tight T-shirts, swearing abuse at anybody who looks a bit foreign. No, we're a disgraceful nation and Austria and Switzerland will be a nicer place next year without us.

whilst disappointed that we didn't qualify, i am relieved that i don't have to watch any more abysmal england matches for a while. i think i will enjoy this tournament despite england not being there.
apart from the 5-1 against germany i can't remember the last game i actually enjoyed.

English football fans aren't much different on Saturday afternoons in London. Although thay have to be more careful about sweearing abuse at foriegners here as there are so many more of them than abroad!

Why? Purely because they suddenly disappear again?
No, I hate the fairweather patriotism. I have no problem with people being proud of their country and wanting to wave a flag, but they can't be that proud if it's soley based on how well a bunch of overpaid footballers do in some silly competition.
Ah, well I do partially agree. The sad thing is that many people (I hesitate to say "most", but in my experience it's not an insignificant percentage) don't even know that it's anything to do with the country. They really think it's just some kind of logo or emblem for the team(s).
