Trick is equal parts egg, milk and self raising flour. Make sure you whizz it up well, and heat the oil/fat in the tin(s) before hand. And whizz it up again directly before it goes in. 15-20 mins on 200 degrees will give you perfect yorkshires

I had deep fried anchovies with malasian meal I had recently. They were very odd.
I made a pasta sauce recently which was chargrilled peppers, capers, olive oil, parsley and anchovies all mixed up in a food processor. Was a little nice.
