I think Simon Amstell is just very good at making fun of people but not going too far (with the guests he likes!) which is why he let Noel have the last word. Saying that I think this series of the Mighty Boosh has been great, original and very funny and very few people could do what they do.
Can't wait for series 3 of The Mighty Boosh? Page 17
Seems I touched some people's nerves - which shows that the Boosh is obviously much loved. i.e. clearly I'm not necessarily 'right', it's just an opinion.
But, that said, its nice to see that I'm not alone in my opinion about him being over-rated.
And, I agree with ShoePie and Retinend - I think Amstell let him have the last word. If anything he deliberately left it there as Noel's 'surreal' comeback neatly proved Amstell's point.
Quote: Mark @ December 7, 2007, 1:27 PMBeing 'zany' and 'out there' isn't clever - anyone can do it if they want to.
Quote: johnny roulette @ December 7, 2007, 2:18 PMso why don't they then?
Probably because there isn't the demand for it. Some people, like me, could no doubt be 'zany' too, but frankly I don't have any inclination to bother.
Don't get me wrong - to get where Noel Fielding has clearly shows he makes people laugh... it's just really not my kind of humour.
The Boosh is alright because Julian Barratt balances things up nicely.
Quote: Retinend @ December 7, 2007, 5:51 PMNoel's brother is a terrible singer.
God, really? That man really can't act either. It really irritates me when casting a comedy properly is overlooked in favour of giving mates a job.

Laura just came.
For the third week in a row I tried to watch this, really tried too, this time. Managed to keep going for maybe a full 10 minutes, then keep dipping back in to see if it was ever likely to make me laugh. Afraid not. Which is completely fine, most things are subjective.
The curious thing though, was not that I, in my early 40's, didn't like it, but that my 17 year old doesn't think it's funny either. Thankfully he's gone off my family too now.
I just wondered what their target audience was, or what they thought it was.
And I don't think that long haired fellow is as funny as Bill Bailey on Buzcocks. And some time tit, Simon Anstell doesn't seem to be as funny as other some time tit Mark Lamar.
There, I think that's covered it.
Quote: Aaron @ December 7, 2007, 6:39 PMLaura just came.

Amstell is much funnier than lamar. Fielding is funny or at least more watchable than bailey. I don't know why absurd things are funny but i know they make me laugh. I guess it comes down to personal taste, I find my family and after you're gone and green green grass all painful to watch but they are all popular shows.
I would imagine the target audience is probably 16-30 year olds.
As I said in the other thread, Simon did what one of you tried to do. Put a pedestrian 'scissors made of glitter' together. Didn't work. Noel came back with his line, and it did work.
Demonstrating (again) that no, 'anyone' can't do it.
It isn't just random zany words put together.
But for some reason, some of you can't see that.
Oh well.
And erm, kissing you say?...
*faints*
Looooots of it in the space of about a minute lol
Hee!
Whereabouts in the epsiode?
(not that I am going to go and watch that bit immediately....)
And then she explodes in a shower of ... Ahem. Anyway.
hehe quite near the end Laura
Why did 'cinnamon's post get deleted?
I deleted it because I was being pointlessly inflammatory. In the end they're just a couple of comedians and I shouldn't go on like it's Osama and Saddam Go Large.
