Inspirational British Sitcom Writers - now voting Page 2

Just British sitcom writers then?

Erm..

Can I put Iannucci and Baynham together? As they've worked a lot together, The Day Today, Alan Patridge etc.

Chris Morris shouldn't really be included in the list because the only sitcom he's written is Nathan Barely and that was pretty crap. If it was most inspirational comedy writer though, then I'd definitely pick Morris.

No Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn either, they wrote the brilliant Yes Minister!

Sorry for being awkward. :D It's just that I wouldn't pick any of those for the most inspirational apart from Iannucci and Baynham. :)

I take exception to this; aside from Nathan Barley being one of the best things sitcom-wise recently (it's genius), he wrote Brass Eye and The Day Today which I think are more sitcom than sketch-show.

Both were exceptional too.

Dan

Brass Eye and The Day Today were excellent, two of the best comedy programmes ever I think. But I still don't really class them as sitcom. And Nathan Barley wasn't that good, the cast was horrible for a start and secondly it seemed to be trying too hard to be 'daaaark'.

Ok your two votes go to Iannucci and Baynham.

Jay/Lynn are in the list - will people please read the list before complaining.

And then if the writer you want is still not on there, tough. ;)

Ah my bad, yes Jay/Lynn are in the list. I just can't read. :)

Moffat

Merchant/Gervais

Why couldn't we have three votes. :(

I know, I know, don't question Mr Stratton.

If I had of have of had a third vote it would have gone to lovely old Moffat.
But I don't.
So it doesn't.

Nice try Ms Gomez, but I know you don't even like coupling. ;)

Damn. Caught out.
I like Jeff though!
Surely that counts for something.

I like Jeff also - but prbly not in the same way...

Out of curiousity, what would've been your third choice? Might convince others to vote for it.
