In search of a sketch show.

Hi all,

I am trying to discover the name, and hopefully the particular episode, of a sketch show that had a particular scene. I think this show was broadcast in the early 1980s.

Unfortunately, I have very little to go on, except some lyrics from that particular musical number, which were slightly negative toward the police. The lyrics, according to memory, are as follows (To the tune of "It's a long way to Tipperary"):

"It's not a long way to a police state; it's not a long way to go.
... Goodbye civil liberties, 'cos you can't walk over there.
It's not a long way to a police state. In fact, we're already there ('Get off me panda'), we're already there!"

My difficulty is that, having never seen the show, my information is second or third hand.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Jay

Alexei Sayle's Stuff? It has the feel of something he might do.

Or Not The Nine O'Clock News, maybe.
