General Election 2024 Page 27

People should vote for a party and it's policies

Not for a man/woman

As for changing stance - how about net zero, HS2, no windfall tax on energy companies- then they did after all, the "dementia" tax, the 45p tax policy , non dom tax policy- another stolen policy of Labours, £10 fines for missed doctors appointments, 2019 manifesto the Tories promised no increases to any of the main taxes - the tax burden hit its highest level since 1948. etc etc

He's always changing his stance on things. He just wants to keep in the running and decides what people want to hear. For instance his support for Corbin.

Yeah he'll go wherever the wind blows and say whatever's popular at the time, to get the top job. He doesn't seem to care if he can deliver on it, he'll just do a hand brake u turn when it suits.

He's already getting caught out, just wait till he becomes PM, everything he's ever said will be scrutinised and thrown at him when he does the opposite. I think he'll have a stormy time as PM, especially after he set himself up as some sort of saintly moral crusader.

Most parties change their policies a bit in opposition. That's what opposition's for. The Tories will probably be doing the same thing soon and fair play to them.
I think most people know pretty much where Starmer stands on most things. It hasn't changed a lot since 2020.
Starmer is clearly a very different leader from Corbyn. It's normal to at least make a show of unity behind the current leader. Johnson officially supported May when she was PM. Sunak officially supported Johnson. Things change. Most people accept this. It doesn't matter really.

The Tories campaign message now seems to be - please take pity on us, don't ALL vote for Labour, don't leave us with hardly any seats so we don't lose so badly! Have mercy!!

How utterly pathetic

When did they issue that?

To be fair, there have been a lot of mumblings about how voters shouldn't, in their haste to punish the Tories. give Labour a super-majority (whatever that is?) because, somehow, it would be undemocratic.
Which in itself is both pathetic and funny.

The Conservatives have only themselves to blame and it's too little too late but, voting Labour is an anathema to them.
There may be some shock results

Democracy does sort of depend on people occasionally changing how they vote, of course. Presumably lots of ex Tory supporters voted Labour during the landslides of the Blair years just as a fair few former Labour voters probably backed the Tories in 2019.

I see Farage and Bojo are at each others throats today

Presumably they can't agree on which of them is the most odious, lying, grifting, clueless clown

All's fair in love and elections.
Maybe apart from outside interference. Google cancelled Reform's ad campaign but quickly restored it after legal threats.

One(1) ad was pulled for "policy violations" and the account temporarily suspended - again, company policy.
The account was very quickly restored.
Always the victim, NF made the most of it, but it's rather telling that he didn't cite which ad broke the rules - many others have run without a problem.
Which implies that it did in fact beak the rules.
Grifters gonna grift.

Farage is on very shaky ground on this.

Only just occurred to be what party Farage's initials are the same as.

Only just occurred to be what party Farage's initials are the same as.

According to his biography, the young Farage was very amused by that coincidence and so often deliberately wrote his initials everywhere.

No comments on the Leaders' debate last night? Why's that then? Fairly up and down but Rishi edging it until about round 8 when he landed a big one, on illegal immigration. I bet Starmer's ears are still ringing this morning with "What are you going to do with the ones that are here?" and "Answer the question" to which he naturally didn't answer. Rishi answered for him - 'So you're going to sit down with the leaders in Iran, Afghanistan and Syria and ask them to take them back? No, you're going to give them asylum here.' Sunak by a knockout.
