Amandaland

New Motherland spin-off focussed on Amanda, Anne, and Amanda's mum Felicity is coming!

Glad the story keeps going - Diane Morgan did say Motherland had ended with the '22 Christmas special, but there had been rumours of an Amanda spin-off, and we now know it's real.

I imagine the others won't turn up in this, but personally would like to see guest appearances at some point down the line!

As BCG has an article, popping it here: https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/news/7899/motherland-spin-off-amandaland/

I think it sounds great fun. The return of Joanna Lumley to TV sitcom as a regular can only be a good thing.

Airing from February apparently!

Wasn't that impressed and cancelled my digi-box link - it had its moments but none that were laugh out loud, which is what sitcoms are supposed to do and used to at one time

I loved it! Really felt like we had Motherland back. Very glad Anne's in it, she's hilarious.

Must be a female thing 😉

BUT, I just remembered, my wife was sitting there watching it with me, and she wasn't impressed at all

I don't want to shock you, but sometimes all women don't think the same. :O

I enjoyed it. It was essentially Motherland 2.0, but that's no bad thing. And nice to see the guy from the TV licence advert in something proper.

Thank you.

I've accidentally watched them all on iplayer. :( So good.
There'd better be another series coming.

You're everything that's wrong with TV viewers today, bingee. Just cramming as many tv episodes in your face as you can in one go. You're not letting tv breathe.

😊
It's their own fault! Make proper length series with at least 12+ episodes and it'd be too much to binge!

I binged it in two sittings. I loved Motherland but it became less relevant as Master Logic is now in Year 13. I thought that it was laugh out loud bloody hilarious. As Zooo said, Anne's an absolute hoot and having Peter Serafinowicz, one of the writers' brothers no less, was just brilliant. Lucy Punch is a great central character.

I guess that some might call it a bit too middle-class and London centric? I was interested to read that they'd tattied up an exclusive street in Islington to film the exterior shots.

Just finished it. Lovely stuff.
I thought the supporting characters we're really well written - the relationship between the two black dads was particularly strong,
Great last episode, too - very satisfying, feel-good ending.
Another series would be most welcome.
