Gaza genocide and ethnic cleansing Page 2

A bit heavy don't you think?

There is no excuse for the behaviour of both sides in this debacle. They are as bad as each other. Hamas know that Israel will retaliate. They've done it since Biblical times. Hamas are uncivilised in using innocent people as human shields.

Agreed, but if propaganda ensures only one side of debate can be heard, isn't that a time for a megaphone ? How else to you get balance ? The innocent on both sides should be allowed to grieve, surly ?

But celebrities not making statements about something doesn't mean they don't care about it or are not doing anything about it. They could be working tirelessly on a campaign but choosing not to share it publicly so it's not overwhelmed or overshadowed. Celebrities who are wealthy are in the enviable position of being able to afford to make things happen like setting up a charity aimed at raising awareness and covering salaries and fees involved in setting up petitions and having a voice in Parliament. Talk is cheap it's doing the leg work and choosing the right outlet that brings about positive change. I'm 100% all for celebs promoting charities and highlighting global issues but some prefer to keep philanthropy and campaigning low-key.

Agreed, but the original post was about the "startling lack" of commentary on a humanitarian crisis, something Comedians are know to champion (Red Nose Day etc ...). Given Suella Braverman comments haven't been tempered until today, all the more reason the Boris party needs calling out in an entertaining and engaging way. That can't be done quietly. A one sided debate is dictatorship.

Why the deafening silence from the rest ? Cowardice? Fear of being blacklisted ?
Or just plain indifference - nothing to do with me ?

May have something to do with most people in comedy being Jewish.
