Comics in Comics

I enjoyed the recent article on the BCG, about comedians in comics, (written by Julian Dutton). Might be of interest to some of you here who were recently discussing this sort of thing in the Hancock thread.

And as well as discussing the old guard like Hancock, Harry Secombe etc. appearing in cartoon form, the article has more recent stuff (well, 2013) of current comedians that were featured in the Beano - funny to see Harry Hill interacting with the Bash Street Kids! - and a Beano cover that features cartoons of loads of modern comedians, even the likes of Jimmy Carr (not exactly Beano-friendly I would've thought!)

Anyway, just wanted to express appreciation and draw attention to it for anyone who may've missed it.

Yes it's recent alright, only published today. Interesting piece, was once a reader of many of the comics mentioned but don't really remember the comedian link, although I'd read about it since. Its heyday was just a few years before my comic reading days in the 70s but I do have a weird recollection of The Beano writing Frank Carson into one of the strips, probably before I knew who he was.

In case any slightly younger people here don't know, but probably do, comics were a very big thing in kids' lives then, and it's such a shame they've been killed off by smart phones and play stations, but that's probably for another thread.
