Ah! So takes it to episode 100
The thing I love about Not Going Out is that even though it is nowhere near as good as it used to be, it still made me laugh out loud several times. Hugh Dennis stole tonight's I thought.
Very funny start to the series. A welcome return.
I quite liked it, but I wish the studio audience wouldn't clap so often. It used to be a really rare thing in a sitcom to get audience applause, and would only happen for something exceptionally funny and well set-up. But there must've been at least four f**ken times that the audience applauded during this one episode, just for a mildly amusing one-liner!

That's how I feel about NGO currently too, it's past its peak (and a few times find myself missing Tim Vine and Katy Wix plus of course Bobby Ball a bit) but hasn't jumped the shark at all for me, and still can solidly get a few proper laughs per episode!

I agree. Applause is not a natural reflex action like laughter is. Obviously crept over from the USA.
Although I have to say my complaints about Anna and Toby are still they same, they say nothing but horrible things about each other and it does wear thin quite quickly.

Talking from experience that's marriage in some circumstances.

F**king TV viewing Yanks will whoop at anything - gets on yer bloody nerves, with certain sections of Brits following like a load of demented sheep.
EDIT : And, by the way - I still don't find this series funny. It was when Tim Vine was in it, and Mack can be just a bit too clever dicky in my opinion, as he does when he takes over on WILTY
I'm not a fan of Not Going Out, its clearly ran as long as it has due to Lee Mack being one of the BBC's "biggest stars" however I find him as funny as toothache.
In my opinion, Not Going Out is easily taking the slot of a far better sitcom, but as Mack ticks the "dopey northener" box for BBC diversity the show keeps returning.
However, this series may be the last as Mack wants to end it on 100 episodes apparently.

According to Den of Geek, when this series ends a two part Christmas special would get NGO to Lee Macks ideal 100 episodes.
But I'd thought there had been at least a bit more than 100 episodes
I still love series 1 !
The American woman was good
It does suprise me that Not Going Out is popular on here and with the press reviewers yet something like Two Doors Down isnt very popular on here or in the press at all.
