No, but it's a similar antagonistic relationship as we saw with Adam and Jonny in Friday Night Dinner: they do love each other but are never the less frequently at loggerheads, fighting, bickering, getting one over each other. The very definition of a love/hate relationship. And it's the conflicts rather than the harmony that drive most of the comedy action.
I still wouldn't say they actually hated each other though.
Perhaps it was just the horse saying it.
