Yeah I think it's only relatively recent, like the last 10 years that it has been known.
Found out recently that ex-snooker professional Steve Davis is a big fan of prog rock, particularly the slightly more obscure bands of the genre, with 2,000 albums in his collection "of a prog nature".

Another one - in The Good Life, the neighbours are 'Tom and Jerry'! OK, I always knew those were their names, I didn't just find THAT out, but I never really thought of their names as being the same as the cat and mouse, if you see what I mean. But perhaps it was immediately obvious to every other viewer!
